Challenge 192!

A photo posted by sarah leigh (@imknottangled) on

This week's challenge over at I am the diva was to use tangle Seton by Cris Letourneau.  This is a very pretty tangle - which I am sure I will use again!

I wanted to use a lot of colors with this one since the time change happened (we set our clocks back one hour) it gets much darker much faster at night!  The gel pens were glittery and metallic which was a lot of fun.

Marbled Zentangles!

A photo posted by sarah leigh (@imknottangled) on

This week from I am the diva, the challenge was to use the tangle Betweed, which is one of my favorite tangles!  Nice surprise for me.

Also, the paper was created with a friend, S, this past weekend.  It was created using the shaving cream and ink method, and as you can see, it turned out beautifully.  Basically you squirt a bunch of shaving cream onto a plate and drop a bunch of ink drops onto the shaving cream.  Then, you stir the shaving cream, just several times, so the ink blends in a little.  Next, you press a piece of paper on top of the shaving cream and then pull it off.  Lastly, you gently wipe the shaving cream off the piece of paper and end up with a great marbled piece of paper!

Challenge #189 and Night Swim

I saw the challenge this week on I am the Diva and decided I wanted to so some sort of landscape with the doodle.  When I was little, I used to draw a ton of dolphins on things, so why not dolphins with this one?

The challenge feature the lovely tangle by Tina and is called YUMA.  You can see more about it here.

Zentangle Mondays and Challenge #187

Next time I try drawing a string with my eyes closed, perhaps I should think a bit more simply...ha!

I did have fun making it - and enjoyed the black and pink microns...and then the grey and pink watercolors.

The Weekend Octopus

I think I am watching too many cheerful things on the TV since all of my people recently have been super cute.  Oh well :D

Weekly Challenge #186 - Fall is Here!

This week's challenge was to do something with leaves (and to make it autumnish if we so chose!).  I decided to try some spray inks - first time ever - with leaves on top and then doodled them after.  It was a lot of fun!

Check out the other great entries - and Happy Fall!

Weekly Challenge #185 - The Shell Continues On

This week's challenge was a duo tangle, which means we can only use two tangles for the whole design.  Fun way to try something new!  The tangles immediately reminded me of a shell and the ocean - so I hinted towards that.  Also used my neocolor II and gelatos...on regular, not heavy duty paper.  Whoops!  Page is a little wrinkly, but it will live.

Check out the rest of the great submissions here: http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2014/09/weekly-challenge-185.html

Monday Nights

This piece was incredibly hard for me to finish.  Probably because it's so hard to know when to stop tangling.  Created with microns and gelatos.

Weekly Challenge #184 Mandala

This week's challenge from the I am the diva blog was to use a new Zentangle called "Ing" by Molly Hollibaugh.  Was a little trickier to do in a circle than I expected, but it seems to have come out OK.

Also tried to do a nice black boarder around the outside, and uh, you can see how well that turned out.  I gave up and painted the whole thing black.  Just goes to show those "happy accidents" can turn out alright (Thanks Bob Ross!  Ha!)

Weekly Challenge #183 - Fishbones

This week's challenge on I am the diva http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2014/09/weekly-challenge-183.html was to try a new tangle called "X-did" by Annette Carlo
http://callitwhatyouquill.blogspot.ca/2014/08/x-did.html

When I started playing with it - especially on this blue paint - it reminded me of fish bones!  I like to think Fishbones is actually the name of a really great fish that just happens to be see-through. He isn't dead, just transparent!

Interested in getting this on a card?  I posted it on Redbubble: http://www.redbubble.com/people/imknottangled/works/12587145-fishbones?p=greeting-card

Does anyone like Redbubble? Let me know!

Weekly Challenge 180 - The Window

I was ridiculously excited to do the challenge on http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/ this week. Pens and markers were prepared!  I pulled out paper!

So, this week we were to use MacDee by Anneke Van Dam; instructions are here: http://anneke-merrygoround.blogspot.nl/2013/02/new-tangle-pattern-macdee.html

When I first saw it, I immediately thought of plaid...until I started actually drawing it and realized my version looked nothing like plaid! It reminded me more of a window, so that's what I am calling this piece.

Paper is a blank note card.  Used a Gelli Pad with acrylics for the background.  Gel pen and paint Sharpie for the lines.

The Bride and The Bridegroom

Felt like making something a little stranger with Zentangle patterns and ended up with this piece!

The background for this image is from Sketch Your Imagination: Fun for All Ages by Mike Perich. http://www.amazon.com/Sketch-Your-Imagination-Fun-Ages/dp/142081169X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407769773&sr=8-1&keywords=mike+perich

Weekly Challenge #178

For this week's challenge, we were to use two tangles that had the same initials as our name.  I used Limpitz and Squid.  It was pretty hard for me to pick which 'S' tangle I wanted to use - so many of the 'S' ones are great!

This week I wanted to try some brown paper; the white shows up so beautifully. It was fun to work with and I know I will be using it again.

Weekly Challenge 177

This week's challenge was to draw the shape "Truffle" by Caroline Broady.  The pattern ended up reminding me of butterflies.  The butterflies reminded me of how my fiance makes me feel - like I have butterflies around my heart!

OK, enough sappy for now!  Fun challenge - I enjoyed myself making this!

Hooping

Hooping, or Hula Hooping, reminds me of drawing.  It's freeing and structured at the same time.  Have you hula hooped today?
