The End of September Faces and Finding Edward.

Towards the end of this, I was truly starting to hate drawing faces. I felt uninspired. I felt like my faces were ugly. I didn't want to do them. Well, I didn't even want to post them.

I ended up picking up a book on how to draw kawaii style and started playing around with a couple of animals. I drew a girl. That wasn't so bad all of a sudden.

And then, I drew Edward.

Edward was fun. He is creepy, weird and oddly happy. I never thought at the end of this I would end up drawing a creepy little guy, but I am certain glad I did.

The Four Ladies

I made this one to show symmetry in a piece and got the idea of putting the grid like this from Dina Wakley's Art Journal Freedom book. I tried to make the girls all have different skin color, but I think I did the water color too light.  Next time!

Toil Toil, Boil, & Bubble

Made this one last night and was inspired from the witches in Macbeth. I did make them a little prettier than they were described though!  Also got the layout idea from Dina Wakley's book as well - that odd numbered items grab the eye a bit better. 

Flowers and face #5

This piece is called, "There Are Always Flowers."  Made with my new Sankura watercolors, Neocolor II, and Sharpie.  A lot of fun to make.

Seems like I have always been drawn to painting flowers in high school and even now in my more recent work- so many flowers.  I think I enjoy how happy they feel to paint.

On a side note, it is a good thing to force yourself out of your comfort zone, so another portrait it is!  I don't think I have ever colored a portrait with watercolors...but it was fun!

Well, I don't entirely like any of them but, here are 3 more faces for September.  Trying different techniques including coloring, drawing with my left hand, and more of a free style.

After doing Facing the Facts with Dina Wakley and The Whimsical Face with Jane Davenport, I went damn, I really need to do the 29 Faces in September. And I just remembered. Today. So I have 29 Faces to make in about 15 days. Oh boy.
